Other performance features include 4WD and an independent steering servo for balanced handling, plus full bearings, all batteries, an AC charger and a fully adjustable suspension.ĭual-rate steering and throttle options gives first-time drivers an easy way to learn basic skills now and a way to enjoy a faster, more responsive ride in the future. The combination of high-intensity LEDs and 1/18 scale size open up drivers’ option even further, so drivers can run night or day, rain or shine and indoors or out. Dromida RTRs put performance first, with 20+ mph speeds and an impressive range of unexpected extras that starts with waterproof electronics. It’s a combination that enables Dromida RTRs to offer two things that toy-quality RTRs can’t: high performance and a huge array of options. Like previous Dromida RTRs, both are priced for entry-level affordability but built with hobby-quality components. The two new models – the DB4.18 Desert Buggy and DT4.18 Desert Truck – are complete RTR packages, right down to the “AA” batteries needed for the 2.4GHz radio. This year, Dromida is staying true to the same concept, but with sizzling new looks and high-intensity LED lights. Last year, the performance, durability and speed made Dromida 1/18 scale RTRs the hit of the holiday season. Full press info from Dromida follows the pics. Brushed-motor power with a combined speed control/receiver unit provide 20mph top speeds. Specs-wise, you’re looking at full ball bearings, oil-filled shocks, and shaft-driven 4WD. The DB4.18 and DT4.18 models are both equipped with functional LED light bars (six LEDS for the truck, four for the buggy) and arrive fully RTR, including a 6-cell NiMH with wall-charger and AA batteries for the 2.4GHz transmitter. ![]() Fun toy.Dromida has added a pair of new models to its econo-car 1/18 scale lineup, which we last reviewed in our March 2014 issue. Not that money spent equates to quality or functionality (I fly FrSky).Īnyway, FWIW, it's been worth the 100 bucks, but I may not be the best person to listen to for car advice. I didn't really want to spend a ton of money on a Tx because cars are not my RC love (planks and helis for me). I plan to instal a Castle 5300Kv along with the Mamba Pro. The brushed motor has plenty of power for a noob, but I will be replacing it with a brushless when it fails. I've been "dogging" it pretty hard (curb jumps, rocky hard packed dirt terrain, speed runs and spins in the street), and nothing has broken yet (but now will because I've jinxed it). or maybe it was just the effort heuristic that made me think so. I'm not a car aficionado, but the oil helped. There was very little oil in the front shocks and the viscosity was pretty thin. One review suggested 30 shock oil would smooth things out, so I changed the oil in the shocks (after a how to video). I noticed it would nose over a bit, but I knew there would be some car guru that had posted a video to help me tweak it. I have rounded curbs on my street, and after I got a feel for how the radio works (trims/centering), I started jumping curbs. I am now a first time car noob, and I think it's really fun. I was buying covering for my GP Ultimate Bipe build, and the BX4.18 sat off to the side calling my name. Therefore, I'm buying different shock towers and converting to an MT body.įor those who haven't seen the MT and SC bodies together, here is a comparison of them side-by-side. With the SC body, there is too much interference with the tires rubbing on the body. The short course truck body is beautiful, but it's not appropriate for the type of driving my grandson and I do. I used my membership discount to get it for just $50. The truck was unused, but the charger was missing. However, with scratch and dent, you get what they have at the time, so I got an SC4.18. I liked his Dromida so well that I bought one for myself from the "Scratch and Dent" section of Tower Hobbies. ![]() ![]() He and I have both been into 1/10 and 1/8 scale electric RC's for about a year, so this is the first time we have tried mini RC's. I am quite impressed with the quality vs the price. My first knowledge of this brand was buying an MT4.18 for my 10-year old grandson at Christmas. Buy several to make the shipping work to your advantage. It is available from all the HobbyKing warehouses. The Turnigy 1700mAh 2S 20C from HobbyKing works great and it's only $8. Has anyone found a hobbyking, sky lipo, or gens ace that will work? ![]()
